NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse comments from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
