Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 where he loved playing different card games when he was young. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a little bit and headed to New York City to play some big-time chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were tough as he played countless hours and lose a majority of the time. He made some extra cash by being an runner for the poker players. He believed he might better his game by balancing his life away from poker. He made an attempt to get more rest and focus attention more on the game.

The actual advancement in his abilities happened when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest gamblers would frequently play against one another. Howard was able to access a number of the best players in chess. With their assistance, Howard Lederer would sharpen his strategic thinking skills. Howard used these strategy concepts in the game of No-Limit hold’em.

Howard Lederer also helped his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie was a great student of poker as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct choice. He told Annie to head out to Sin City and compete in the WSOP tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the greatest women players the poker world today. He relocated to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and participated in money games for the following decade. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard decided to play more tournaments.
