No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. He would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
