NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
