Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the final game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers anywhere in the world. While betting on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money rounds?
