The value of Poker Seating
Hold’em is all about individuals and seating. All experienced Holdem players concur that position in no boundary Hold’em is critically significant. Playing your hole cards in late position may be much more profitable than in early poker position. This is because a lot more information is assembled before acting.
i.e., I played in a $1-$2 no limit money round at a local spot. I bumbled in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier marker, just to see a little fun. Flop came down A-A-4. A bettor in starting position placed a fifteen dollar bet. Two players fold and it was my turn to act. I should have folded, but his betting seemed a little off. I identified this person as a weak-tight player, and normally if he held the number one hand he would only check, so I called.
The turn showed with a 7, meaning it was a A-A-4-7. My competitor placed an additional bet of $20. I deliberated for a while, but took a chance to re-raise an additional $30thirty dollars over and above his $20. He folds and I take the cash.
Betting at last position provides you an idea where you are positioned by watching how other enthusiasts react and wager. On the flip side, gamblers at early position could use their poker position to check-raise the last seated aggressors and trap them later at the end. In Hold’em, each ends, last and early must be played carefully.
