Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While betting on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found playing internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
