NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
